Who here likes winter?

I don't! It's expensive to heat the house and things go wrong. The furnace didn't work the other day and the house was 40 degrees most of the day, luckily, the space heaters helped up the temp a bit. And now we have no water today, because somewhere downstairs (the garage) the pipe(s) froze. We ran a heater down there and it hasn't helped.

I'm right along with you...can't afford to heat the house so we're huddled in blankets with single room propane heaters ONLY in the rooms we are in. Murder getting up in the morning to 30-40 degrees. I feel like I am living in medieval times. I am VERY ready for some warm weather. To add insult to injury I am starting to receive sweepstakes entries for a "Grand getaway to Alaska" ... Like I want to win a trip to somewhere colder than here.

Well, if it's a getaway to a cabin, you might get free heat then!

I'm just glad we can at least keep the heat to 58-60 and have it be pretty warm, and not waste all the fuel oil. It's actually warmer than my mom's house was, and she kept it to 65.

I'd give anything for it to be 65 in here......

You can buy something called heat tape. It looks like an extension cord. You wrap it around your pipes and plug it into an outlet and that can thaw your pipes. I own a rental house and had the same problem a few years ago. The key is to put it on the pipes and plug it in before they freeze, but it can help thaw them, too. It's not expensive and it's definitely worth a try. I don't know what to do about your furnace :(.

Yea. I guess the pipe that might be frozen, is where it comes out of the ground, it's still all under the garage though. Going to get a big of electrical tape tomorrow and see if that helps. Most of the pipes have the insulation on them too.
If it's frozen, it could be that when the furnace went out it froze some, and then the temps getting so low at night.

It's going to get to the 40's next week though. Heat wave!!

We've got the electrical wire on the pipe now. Been on it for about 2 hours now and nothing so far :(
I hope that it being frozen is the issue and not something else.

Well, still no water.

It is up to 30 right now, some of the ice is melting a bit because I can see it dripping off the roof. Tomorrow we will know if it's just a frozen pipe or not, it should get up to at least 35 tomorrow.

WOO HOO!! We have water back! Finally we can wash our hands better again and wash these stupid dishes that have started to pile up!

I LOVE the winter!! I was raised in the bush (literally - outhouse, hollowed out stump shower and all!) and Im 30 yrs old - if its cold you bundle up, if its hot theres nothing you can do! Im really not a heat person at all. I dont drive either, just walk everywhere so I just make extra time when walking if its snowy. I LOVE the Winter <3

I live in Chicago, you know the one that's called the windy city lol. I used to hate the winter, was EXTREMELY sensitive to the cold and I would dread the upcoming winter. Things have changed though since I had my son 18 months ago. Now I hate the summer here in Chicago, I can no longer stand the heat and humidity. I think something changed me from the pregnancy. Now I love the winter, just not snow for long periods of time lol.

I like Winter--at first, anyway!  When it is Summer, I want it to be Winter, but when Winter comes, I want Summer back!

     That's why I like Autumn.  You get hot weather, cool weather, and freezing weather all in one.
