ABA Facebook Sweepstakes
Put a Dent in Your Debt, One Dime at a Time
The ABA, BARBRI®, Brooks Brothers®, Hertz® and WestlawNext™ are working together to promote usage of the ABA’s Facebook page devoted to law student news and events.
To encourage students at ABA-accredited law schools to Like the ABA Facebook page, the ABA will conduct drawings during the month of October 2011 that will include all law students from ABA-accredited law schools who have liked the ABA page and have registered for the drawings. The following official rules apply to all entrants:
Who May Enter
This promotion starts on October 1, 2011, and ends on October 31, 2011. It is open to all law students from ABA-accredited law schools who enter by liking the ABA for Law Student Facebook page and submitting a completed official entry form through the page at www.facebook.com/abaforlawstudents.
Employees of the ABA and its affiliates and the immediate family or household members of such employees are not eligible to enter or win. Entrants must be legal residents of the US and over the age of 18 or the age of majority.
Entry Requirements and Entry Locations
On the official entry form, each entrant must provide his or her name, email address, law school and expected graduation date from law school. Official entry forms will be available on the ABA for Law Students Facebook promotion page. No additional materials need to be submitted. Only one entry per individual is permitted. The ABA will not be responsible for lost, incomplete malfunctioning entries or failed computer transmissions. All federal, state, and local laws and regulations apply.
NO PURCHASE OR PAYMENT OF ANY KIND IS NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN THIS PROMOTION.
Entry Deadline
This promotion will have weekly drawings of prizes provided by the four participating companies as well as a final monthly drawing for the monetary prize provided by the ABA. Entries are admissible throughout the month of October. Weekly drawings will be scheduled at 3 p.m. Central Standard Time on Mondays, on the dates of Oct. 10, Oct. 17, Oct. 24 and Oct. 31. The monthly drawing will have a deadline of 11:59 p.m. Pacific Standard Time on Monday, October 31. The drawing for this prize will take place at 3 p.m. Central Standard Time on Tuesday, Nov. 1.
Drawing Date and Notification of Winner
Individuals who submit completed official entry forms will automatically be entered into each random drawing, which will be conducted by an outside vendor on behalf of the American Bar Association. The winners will be notified by email. The winners may be required to sign additional documents related to participation in the contest before the prizes will be awarded. Also, all entrants will be notified of the winners’ names, which will be posted on ABA for Law Students Facebook page no later than November 4, 2011.
Prizes
Prizes will be:
ABA: One dime for every law student from an ABA-accredited law school who Likes the ABA for Law Students Facebook page. This prize will be capped at $10,000.
BARBRI: Six $500 gift certificates for bar review courses
Brooks Brothers: Five $400 gift certificates
Hertz: Two car rental certificates valued at $250 each and two airline tickets valued at $1,000 each
WestlawNext: Twenty gift certificates from Target valued at $100 each
Prize Value and Payment of Taxes
The prizes provided weekly have a total estimated value of $2,000 to $3,000. The monetary prize provided by the ABA will depend on the total number of likes collected on the ABA for Law Students Facebook page and will be capped at $10,000. The winners are solely responsible for payment of any taxes that may be owed in connection with winning this prize.
Odds of Winning
The odds of winning the prizes will depend on the total number of official entry forms submitted.
Restrictions
The drawings are open only to law students attending ABA-accredited law schools who Like the ABA for Law Students Facebook page and submit official entry forms at the ABA for Law Students Facebook page, www.facebook.com/abaforlawstudents. Promotion is valid in the US. The drawings are void where prohibited by law.
Use of Entry Form Information
The information supplied on the official entry forms will be used to notify entrants of the winners of the drawings.
