(From Beethoven to the Beatles)

Sunday August 21, 9:30am – Noon
Doral Arrowwood Rye Brook, New York
Renowned Professor Jeremy Yudkin from Boston University

This highly interactive lecture will reflect on “what is great music, and how it is distinguished from music that is merely good.” According to Professor Jeremy Yudkin, the one thing that makes music great is “concision.” Based on just four notes, Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony is “incredibly concise.” Likewise, he singles out the Beatles “I’ve Just Seen a Face” for the way it perfectly marries music and lyrics.
