Calling all aspiring singers! Here is your big opportunity to showcase your talent to the iconic singer and composer, Shankar Mahadevan! Winners will receive an online music lesson with Shankar himself.

The contest is sponsored by Shankar Mahadevan Academy (www.shankarmahadevanacademy.com). Six winners will be selected: 3 adults, and 3 kids (ages 13-18).
Each winner will receive:

• An online music lesson with Shankar Mahadevan
  
• Promotion on both Shankar Mahadevan and Shankar Mahadevan Academy fan pages
  
• An award certificate from Shankar Mahadevan Academy, signed by Shankar Mahadevan
  

Contest Instructions

Submit your video, singing a song that is based on a classical Carnatic or Hindustani raga. It can be any type of song – film, folk, semi-classical, or classical – as long as it is classically based. Our goal at Shankar Mahadevan Academy is to encourage ALL aspiring singers to establish a strong foundation in classical music!

Video recordings must meet the following requirements for contest entry:

• Maximum length of recording is 6 minutes.
  
• Songs can be of any type, including film, folk, semi-classical, or classical, as long as they are based on a Carnatic or Hindustani raga. For song ideas, see our official rules
  
• Participants must be 13 or over.
  
• Parental approval is required for participants ages 13-18.
  
• Maximum of one entry per participant.
